How We Work: HPA’s Process for Buyers and Sellers

Buying or selling an aircraft is not like buying or selling a car. The stakes are higher, the paperwork is more complex, and the wrong move can cost you real money, or put you in an airplane that does not fit your mission.

HPA exists to make that process straightforward whether you are buying or selling, from searching for your first airplane to listing one you have flown for years.

One client, one side of every deal

HPA works with both buyers and sellers, but never on the same transaction. In any given deal we represent one client, and that client’s interests are our sole priority. Having handled both buy-side and sell-side transactions over the years gives us a practical read on the market from both directions: what buyers are actually shopping for, and what sellers need to do to get a fair offer without their airplane sitting for months. We are not a big-box brokerage running volume. We are a boutique operation based at Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport (KCXO), focused on high-end piston aircraft, turboprops, and light-to-mid-size jets.

  • Buyer representation: mission definition, search, evaluation, negotiation, prebuy coordination, closing
  • Seller representation: pricing, preparation, marketing, buyer qualification, offer-to-close
  • Ongoing ownership guidance, including insurance, maintenance, and management support

The first conversation

Every relationship starts with a call, not a sales pitch. If you are curious what your aircraft might be worth, that first call includes a no-obligation, generalized valuation discussion. A detailed valuation or desktop appraisal comes later, once we have your logbooks, current photos, and a formal engagement in place. That first conversation tells us whether we are a fit, and it is free, with no obligation.

What no-pressure actually means

We do not use scarcity tactics, artificial deadlines, or high-pressure closing scripts. If an airplane is not right for you, we will tell you, even if that means the deal does not happen. If your asking price is not supported by the market, we will tell you that too. Our business depends on owners trusting us enough to call us again, or refer us to someone else, and that only works if the advice is honest whether or not it leads to a transaction today.

Why owners choose a boutique brokerage

At HPA, you work directly with people who know your file, your mission, and your history with us, backed by a team that handles research, valuation, customer communication, and technical evaluation on every transaction. HPA has been in business since 2009 and operated from Conroe (KCXO) since 2014, transacting well over 100 aircraft on behalf of clients. Brandon Ray, HPA’s founder, has personally bought and sold seven aircraft of his own, and is an ATP-rated pilot with CFI, CFII, and MEI ratings, a seven-time Master Instructor, an A&P mechanic, a Wharton MBA, and holds multiple PIC type ratings in jets, a background that shapes how closely HPA evaluates every aircraft it represents.

The best way to understand how we work is to talk

Schedule a call and tell us where you are in the process, whether that is just starting to think about an upgrade or ready to list an airplane this month.
