Questions for a financing conversation
Who will make and service the loan?
Ask whether you are speaking with the lender, a broker, or another finance arranger. Confirm the lender of record, who services the account, and how any arranger is paid.
Does this aircraft and its intended use qualify?
Discuss the specific make, model, year, condition, and operating plan. Ask about private use, business use, charter, experimental aircraft, and any location or borrower restrictions relevant to your purchase.
What happens at the end of the loan term?
Compare the loan term with the amortization period. Ask whether the loan fully pays off, leaves a balloon balance, or requires refinancing. Request the repayment schedule in writing.
What should I compare beyond the monthly payment?
Ask about the rate structure, down payment, fees, prepayment provisions, required insurance, appraisal, closing costs, and total repayment. Compare quotes using the same aircraft and assumptions.
Know who is behind the resource.
