In Loving Memory of a Dedicated Aviator

Randy DeLong - AIRCRAFT SALES CONSULTANT

In Memory of

Charles Randall “Randy” DeLong

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Charles Randall “Randy” DeLong, an esteemed colleague, mentor, and friend who dedicated over four decades to the aviation industry. Randy’s remarkable journey began at the age of 19 when a lifelong passion was ignited by a single flight in a 1968 Cessna 150. His commitment led him to earn his Private Pilot’s license by high school graduation and soon after achieved his A&P licenses in 1982.

Throughout his 42-year career, Randy seamlessly balanced his dual vocations in aircraft maintenance and flight instruction. His roles ranged from working on single-engine and light twin aircraft to serving as a demo and check airman pilot for Cessna Aircraft Company, later Textron Aviation. Randy’s commitment to his craft and his students was evident in every aspect of his work.

In 2020, Randy joined High Performance Aviation, bringing unparalleled expertise and an infectious enthusiasm for “talking planes.” He was a natural teacher and a calming, positive influence, providing steadfast support during uncertain times, including the challenges of the pandemic. His professionalism, depth of knowledge, and genuine connection with colleagues and clients alike elevated our team and left an indelible impact.

Beyond his achievements in aviation, Randy was known for his warmth, humility, and dedication to his family, friends, and faith. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who lived life with boundless energy and purpose. Even in challenging times, Randy remained true to his values and inspired those around him with his unwavering faith and kindness.

Randy’s legacy is not only found in the skies he navigated but in the countless lives he touched with his generosity and wisdom. He is survived by his beloved wife, Torri, their children, grandchildren, and a loving extended family who will continue to honor his memory.

A memorial service celebrating Randy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at 2 pm at Baker Funeral Home West, 3224 N. Tyler Road, Wichita, KS 67205. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Rock of Christ Church (www.rockofchrist.com), where Randy was an active member.

Randy, your absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but your unwavering spirit, passion, and the light you brought to our team and community will continue to inspire. You will be deeply missed and always remembered.
