Training in Your Aircraft

High Performance Aviation, LLC (HPA) is committed to providing the best possible training, emphasizing safety and conservative decision-making.  Although many precautions are taken, things can happen, so I carry Professional Flight Instructor Insurance.

In some circumstances, I may be required to be added to your insurance.  Some examples include the following:

  • Hull value of your aircraft exceeds $100,000
  • Flight training will occur on a regular basis (more often than an occasional BFR or IPC)
  • Airplane needs to be flown solo (ferry flights, delivery, maintenance flights, etc.)

If any of these circumstances could apply to you, or you would like me to be added just for the extra comfort of insurance coverage, please do the following:

  • Email me the contact information for your insurance broker: name, phone number, email, and policy number
  • I will request to be added to the policy as an “Additional Insured” with a waiver of subrogation.  I will send the insurance company my pilot information on their form.  Please understand, a simple “Open Pilot” policy does not offer the coverage required.  I must have documentation showing that I am listed on the policy.
  • The insurance company will then verify any policy changes with you before making the change.

Most insurance companies have no problem with this, since additional flight training will help make you a safer pilot and minimize their risk.  Please send this information as early as possible to allow time for processing.  I have worked with many insurance companies in the past to determine the best possible course of training for their clients.
